Tis' So Sweet to Trust in Jesus

Verse 1:

’Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus, just to take Him at His Word;

Just to rest upon His promise, and to know, “Thus saith the Lord!”

Refrain:

Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him!

How I’ve proved Him o’er and o’er;

Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus!

Oh, for grace to trust Him more!

Verse 2:

Oh, how sweet to trust in Jesus, just to trust His cleansing blood;

And in simple faith to plunge me, 'neath the healing, cleansing flood!

Refrain:

Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him!

How I’ve proved Him o’er and o’er;

Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus!

Oh, for grace to trust Him more!

Verse 3:

Yes, ’tis sweet to trust in Jesus, just from sin and self to cease;

Just from Jesus simply taking life and rest, and joy and peace.

Refrain:

Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him!

How I’ve proved Him o’er and o’er;

Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus!

Oh, for grace to trust Him more!

Verse 4:

I’m so glad I learned to trust Thee, precious Jesus, Savior, Friend;

And I know that Thou art with me, wilt be with me to the end.

Refrain:

Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him!

How I’ve proved Him o’er and o’er;

Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus!

Oh, for grace to trust Him more!

What a Friend we Have in Jesus

Verse 1:

What a friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and griefs to bear!

What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer!

Oh, what peace we often forfeit, Oh, what needless pain we bear,

All because we do not carry everything to God in prayer!

Verse 2:

Have we trials and temptations? Is there trouble anywhere?

We should never be discouraged—Take it to the Lord in prayer.

Can we find a friend so faithful, who will all our sorrows share?

Jesus knows our every weakness; take it to the Lord in prayer.

Verse 3:

Are we weak and heavy-laden, cumbered with a load of care?

Precious Savior, still our refuge—take it to the Lord in prayer.

Do thy friends despise, forsake thee? Take it to the Lord in prayer!

In His arms He’ll take and shield thee, thou wilt find a solace there.

Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus

Verse 1:

O soul, are you weary and troubled? No light in the darkness you see?

There’s light for a look at the Savior, And life more abundant and free!

Refrain:

Turn your eyes upon Jesus,

Look full in His wonderful face,

And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,

In the light of His glory and grace.

Verse 2:

Through death into life everlasting

He passed, and we follow Him there;

O’er us sin no more hath dominion—

For more than conquerors we are!

Refrain:

Turn your eyes upon Jesus,

Look full in His wonderful face,

And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,

In the light of His glory and grace.

Verse 3

His Word shall not fail you—He promised;

Believe Him, and all will be well:

Then go to a world that is dying,

His perfect salvation to tell!

Refrain:

Turn your eyes upon Jesus,

Look full in His wonderful face,

And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,

In the light of His glory and grace.

 2 Timothy 2:1-13

You then, my child, be strengthened by the grace that is in Christ Jesus, and what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men, who will be able to teach others also.

Share in suffering as a good soldier of Christ Jesus. No soldier gets entangled in civilian pursuits, since his aim is to please the one who enlisted him.

An athlete is not crowned unless he competes according to the rules. It is the hard-working farmer who ought to have the first share of the crops.

Think over what I say, for the Lord will give you understanding in everything.

Remember Jesus Christ, risen from the dead, the offspring of David, as preached in my gospel, for which I am suffering, bound with chains as a criminal.

But the word of God is not bound! Therefore I endure everything for the sake of the elect, that they also may obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory. The saying is trustworthy, for:

If we have died with him, we will also live with him;
if we endure, we will also reign with him;
if we deny him, he also will deny us;
if we are faithless, he remains faithful—for he cannot deny himself.

Great is Thy Faithfulness

Verse 1:

Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father,

There is no shadow of turning with Thee;

Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not

As Thou hast been Thou forever wilt be.

Refrain:

Great is Thy faithfulness! Great is Thy faithfulness!

Morning by morning new mercies I see;

All I have needed thy hand hath provided—

Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord unto me!

Verse 2:

Summer and winter, and springtime and harvest,

Sun, moon and stars in their courses above,

Join with all nature in manifold witness

To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love.

Refrain:

Great is Thy faithfulness! Great is Thy faithfulness!

Morning by morning new mercies I see;

All I have needed thy hand hath provided—

Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord unto me!

Verse 3:

Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth,

Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide;

Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,

Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!

Refrain:

Great is Thy faithfulness! Great is Thy faithfulness!

Morning by morning new mercies I see;

All I have needed thy hand hath provided—

Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord unto me!

How Great Thou Art

Verse 1:

O Lord, my God, when I in awesome wonder

Consider all the worlds thy Hands have made;

I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder,

Thy power throughout the universe displayed

Refrain (x2):

Then sings my soul,

My Savior God, to Thee,

How great Thou art, how great Thou art.

Verse 2:

And when I think of God, His Son not sparing;

Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in;

That on the cross, my burden gladly bearing,

He bled and died to take away my sin.

Refrain (x2):

Then sings my soul,

My Savior God, to Thee,

How great Thou art, how great Thou art.

Verse 3:

When Christ shall come with shout of acclamation

And lead me home, what joy shall fill my heart!

Then I shall bow with humble adoration,

And then proclaim, "My God, how great Thou art!"

Refrain (x2):

Then sings my soul,

My Savior God, to Thee,

How great Thou art, how great Thou art.

What is Leadership?

Carol Davis

Leadership is NOT…

Leadership IS…

On one occasion, while the crowd was pressing in on him to hear the word of God, he was standing by the lake of Gennesaret, and he saw two boats by the lake, but the fishermen had gone out of them and were washing their nets. Getting into one of the boats, which was Simon's, he asked him to put out a little from the land. And he sat down and taught the people from the boat. And when he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.” And Simon answered, “Master, we toiled all night and took nothing! But at your word I will let down the nets.”

And when they had done this, they enclosed a large number of fish, and their nets were breaking. They signaled to their partners in the other boat to come and help them. And they came and filled both the boats, so that they began to sink. But when Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus' knees, saying, “Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord.” For he and all who were with him were astonished at the catch of fish that they had taken, and so also were James and John, sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. And Jesus said to Simon, “Do not be afraid; from now on you will be catching men.” And when they had brought their boats to land, they left everything and followed him.  (Luke 5:1-11)

3.         Pray for our church leaders, for God to give them wisdom and humility as they lead the congregation in 2018

4.         Pray for Steve Walker as he heads up an outreach to refugees in Southern California.

5.         Pray for our special Men’s Breakfast outreach on Feb 10 with Thom Wolf speaking.

6.         Pray for Anita Sanchez, that God would use the treatment to heal her of cancer.

7.         Pray for each other, after sharing your prayer requests. Pray especially that we will apply the things we learned from Carol’s presentation on leadership.
